Bumblebee Stick Horse Races!

On your mark...get set go!
Children captured in the following pictures look as if they are just playing,
but did you know they are learning valuable skills at the same time?
Read on and learn about the great skills they learned with this activity!
The children had tons of fun pretending..
to be....
COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!
They are also learning Social-Emotional skills like sharing and taking turns.
Which is a life skill and a school readiness skill.
They worked on galloping and skipping...a gross motor skill.
This activity taught much more that just gross motor! It taught
an important skill that every child must learn before they begin to read.
For instance:
When you skip you lift one foot up and place it down.
When you read you start and the top and work down.
When you skip you also move left to right.
When we read, we read left to right.
All activities that you use a left arm, right leg
(cross the mid line of the body)
help with brain development.

Balance and Coordination
Children bounce when they skip and gallop on a stick horse,
and they learn balance and coordination.
Language Development
By sparking interest and igniting communicating,
children build their vocabulary and learn to communicate!

They learn Math like counting, sequencing, position words, and opposites.

They learn rhythm from the beat as they skip

They learn Social Studies as they discover "The Old Days"!

They learn Science when they explore the horse!

They realize that they had fun....
We realize that they are learning and growing
everyday in a stress free learning environment!
